  • For a trainee pursuing a career in paediatric rehabilitation there is potential to extend beyond 12 months to allow completion of curriculum.

Roster and on-call

  • The Fellow position at RCH is predominantly responsible for outpatient work - and there is a separate registrar covering inpatients.  The Fellow is encouraged to support the registrar on the ward and participate in inpatient work for experience and learning. There is an opportunity to be first on call during office hours later in the candidate's training.
  • There is no on-call commitment in the position at the RCH.
  • Queries regarding roster and on call commitments in the Monash position should be directed to the site contact.

Education and Teaching

  • Dedicated training time to participate in the statewide and national training program
  • Consultant supervision for clinics and outreach activities
  • Specific training and supervision will be provided for Rehab accreditation

Pay

  • As per current Doctors in Training award

Accessibility

The RCH position is based predominantly at Royal Children's Hospital in Parkville.  The RCH fellow is expected to provide clinical care at other VPRS sites within the state - supervised outpatient clinics only.

The Monash position is based predominantly at the Monash Clayton campus

 

The Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS) provides evidence-based, best practice clinical care to children and adolescents requiring rehabilitation with a variety of conditions including acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, chronic fatigue syndrome, elective musculoskeletal procedures, and other neurological conditions.

The interdisciplinary rehabilitation team provides goal orientated care aimed at maximising function.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Vision is "A world where all kids thrive."  RCH partners with Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI), The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, and The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation.  A full range of paediatric and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and others states around Australia and overseas.
